ROSTERS – COACH/MANAGER RESPONSIBILITY

IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COACH TO MAKE SURE HIS PLAYERS ARE ALL PAID MEMBERS, HIS REGISTERED ROSTER IS CORRECT AND UP TO DATE, AND THAT ENOUGH PLAYERS ARE SIGNED TO COMPLETE THE YEAR REGARDLESS OF UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES.

If you qualify for the playoffs and don’t have enough players to make up a team, you will forfeit the playoff series.

EQUIPMENT RULES

All B’nai Brith teams will be unable to use bats banned by Softball Ontario and the ASA.  Please click on the following link for a list of approved as well as banned bats.

  http://www.nsacanada.ca/bats/approved.php

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY POLICY

  • All players in the league, MUST be B'nai Brith members (including subs).
  • A reminder that the B'nai Brith membership fee for the softball season does rise from $75 to $100 on April 15, 2016. Make sure to register prior to April 15, 2016 to avoid the increased rate.
  • We take this policy very seriously. If anyone is caught with a  player who is not a B’nai Brith Member playing in a game, the team captain will be suspended for one game, the game will result in a default, and the team will forfeit $50 of its default deposit.
  • The Final day to make any changes/additions to your roster for the season is Friday, May 27, 2016 Players must play at least 6 regular season games to qualify for the playoffs.
  • Only Roster players will be eligible for playoffs. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • If a player plays on two teams, he can choose to pitch in any division but cannot pitch for a team in a lower division. He can pitch for another team in a parallel division (eg. If he plays on 2 “C” division teams on different nights).
  • The league reserves the right to review and adjust any player on a team where their skill level is not appropriate.
  • In addition, in order to promote fair sportsmanship, we want to inform you that this year if you are a "B" division team you can only have 2 "A" division players on the field for a given game. We will inform all of the coaches in your division and we will rely on them to report back to us if a team bends the rules.
  • Remember, this league is a community league and we look to promote fair play and community spirit.
  • An "A" player is defined as someone who is on the roster of one of our teams in the A division.
  • Do note that a committee is in place to ensure good sportsmanship if any issues arise later in the season.
  • The league has the right to balance divisions in way it sees fit, in the best interest of competition and the league itself.

PINCH RUNNERS:

All teams must designate a maximum of 4 pinch runners (prior to the start of the game) as the only players that can pinch run throughout the course of a game

* MEN: If you do not have 11 players on your roster registered as B'nai Brith members, $100 will need to be added to your team roster fee for each missing spot (i.e: if you only have 10 players on your roster, an additional $100 team fee is owed)

DEFAULT POLICY

To avoid a default:

  • If you are the home team and you show up with 7 players or less, you can ask the visiting team if you can hit first. If your 8th player arrives by the time you get in the field, the game can continue, otherwise it's a default.
  • Another option is asking the opposing team to borrow a player, or as many player's as needed for the game to avoid the default. The players DO NOT go back to the other team at all during this game. There will be a 15 minute rule at every game, which will allow teams up to 15 minutes after the start time (i.e 7pm for a 6:45pm), before they have to make this decision.
  • You have up until 72 hours prior to a game to let me know if your team is going to default. If I’ve been informed VIA an email 72 hours before your scheduled game, you will just receive a loss in the standings without a $50 default penalty. If it’s LESS than 72 hours prior to the game, a $50 penalty will be charged to a team along with a loss. Default losses are put in the standings as a 7-0 loss.
  • If both teams default, then both teams will receive a loss
  • B'nai Brith Canada has full right to remove a team from the league, if they default on three separate occasions
