2018 Season

ROSTERS – COACH/MANAGER RESPONSIBILITY

IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COACH TO MAKE SURE HIS PLAYERS ARE ALL PAID MEMBERS, HIS REGISTERED ROSTER IS CORRECT AND UP TO DATE, AND THAT ENOUGH PLAYERS ARE SIGNED TO COMPLETE THE YEAR REGARDLESS OF UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES.

No subs are permitted in the playoffs. Only paid roster players will be eligible for playoffs. NO EXCEPTIONS

If you qualify for the playoffs and don’t have enough players to make up a team, you will forfeit the playoff game.

EQUIPMENT RULES

All B’nai Brith teams will be unable to use bats banned by Softball Ontario and the ASA.  Please click on the following link for a list of approved as well as banned bats.

  http://www.nsacanada.ca/bats/approved.php

Cleats
As per NSA, metal spikes are prohibited. Umpires have the authority to eject a player from a game for wearing metal spikes.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY POLICY

  • All players in the league, MUST be B'nai Brith members (including subs).
  • A reminder that the B'nai Brith membership fee for the softball season does rise from $75 to $100 on May 1, 2018.
  • We take this policy very seriously. If anyone is caught with a  player who is not a B’nai Brith Member playing in a game, the team captain will be suspended for one game, the game will result in a default, and the team will forfeit $50 of its default deposit.
  • The Final day to make any changes/additions to your roster for the season is June 1, 2018. Players must play at least 6 regular season games to qualify for the playoffs.
  • Only Roster players will be eligible for playoffs. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • The league reserves the right to review and adjust any player on a team where their skill level is not appropriate.
  • Remember, this league is a community league and we look to promote fair play and community spirit.
  • Do note that a committee is in place to ensure good sportsmanship if any issues arise later in the season.
  • The league has the right to balance divisions in ways it sees fit, in the best interest of competition and the league itself.

PINCH RUNNERS:

All teams must designate a maximum of 4 pinch runners (prior to the start of the game) as the only players that can pinch run throughout the course of a game

* MEN: If you do not have 11 players on your roster registered as B'nai Brith members, $100 will need to be added to your team roster fee for each missing spot (i.e: if you only have 10 players on your roster, an additional $100 team fee is owed)

DEFAULT POLICY

To avoid a default:

  • If you are the home team and you show up with 7 players or less, you can ask the visiting team if you can hit first. If your 8th player arrives by the time you get in the field, the game can continue, otherwise it's a default.
  • Another option is asking the opposing team to borrow a player, or as many players as needed for the game to avoid the default. The players DO NOT go back to the other team at all during this game. There will be a 15 minute rule at every game, which will allow teams up to 15 minutes after the start time (i.e 7pm for a 6:45pm), before they have to make this decision.
  • You have up until 48 hours prior to a game to let me know if your team is going to default. If I’ve been informed VIA an email 48 hours before your scheduled game, you will just receive a loss in the standings without a $50 default penalty. If it’s LESS than 48 hours prior to the game, a $50 penalty will be charged to a team along with a loss. Default losses are put in the standings as a 7-0 loss.
  • If both teams default, then both teams will receive a loss
  • B'nai Brith Canada has full right to remove a team from the league if they default on two separate occasions

  • Following each game the winning team’s coach/player must send in the score via email by 12pm the day following your game. We will only accept scores via email. Please email the scores to lipson
  • Please send your email the following way:

Subject: Softball Score

  • NEVER ASSUME A RAINOUT unless you are told by a B'nai Brith representative that there is a rain-out.
  • B'nai Brith will contact captains by 4:00 pm on the day of the game to let them know if it is cancelled. If you do not hear anything, the game will be played as scheduled.
  • You must show up to the field. Teams must have at least 8 players show up to the field for the decision.

Should you have more then 2 games rained-out, or cancelled for reasons such as; field or light issues, permit issues, umpires issues, or ineligible player issues, B'nai Brith Canada will begin to arrange make-up games.

Alcohol Consumption

According to the bylaws of Toronto, Markham and Vaughan, there is absolutely no tolerance for alcohol or drug consumption on public property, including: on the field, in the dugout, in the parking lot, etc. Therefore, alcohol consumption is not permitted anywhere near the fields before, during, or after the games.

If any player is caught with alcohol, the entire team will face an immediate suspension by the League. A second infraction will result in expulsion. There are absolutely no exceptions.
